How To Stay Healthy This Holiday Season

“Ho ho ho ho, Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!” As this holiday season approaches, many of us are preparing for big celebrations and parties. Food, snacks, wine, beverages… there is no better time of the year to fill yourself to your heart’s desire!

However, if you are a health-conscious type of person, then this article will reveal some tips for staying healthy this holiday season (while everyone else around you gains 5 pounds!).

Below are 5 tips for keeping yourself healthy this holiday season:

1. Eat Snacks Moderately – Let’s face it, snacks are abundant during the holidays seasons (as if they aren’t already throughout the year). If you take a seat within an arm’s reach of the snack table, you’re going to have a tough time keeping yourself from unconsciously grabbing handfuls of party mix, candies, and the like and picking at them all day. By sitting on the other side of the room, getting to the snacks involves a conscious effort into getting up and walking over to get at the snacks.

2. Exercise, Exercise, Exercise! – There is no better thing to do during this festive season than to exercise! If the weather permits it, go out and take a quick walk around the house or block. If your celebration is taking place in a colder climate, you’ll be more inspired to quicken your pace and burn a few extra calories in the process. If the weather is bad, do 10-20 squats, stretches, or other brief exercise each time you go to the restroom. You only want to do just enough to elevate your heart rate, but not break out into a sweat. Chances are, no one will know what you’re doing, and you won’t have to feel self-conscious about trying to maintain your figure.

3. Eat More Healthy Foods – Take an extra scoop of vegetables and fruit when filling your plate, and by the time you finish, you won’t have room for the other foods which are higher in calories and more likely to cause you to gain weight. Also, avoid those fatty and fried foods (they taste good, but you know they aren’t healthy!)

4. Drink A Lot Of Water Throughout The Day – Water helps your body stay fit. Drink a fair amount of water or other unsweetened beverage before each meal, as well as during and between them. The liquid in your stomach will help trick your mind into not feeling as hungry, which reduces the tendency to gorge yourself on potentially fattening foods.

5. Eat In Smaller Portions – Instead of eating platefuls of food, try eating smaller portions throughout the day. No doubt, everything at the table looks good, and it’s all you can do to keep from filling your plate 2-3 times so that you can sample everything. An easy way to combat this urge is to simply take a smaller portion than you normally would of those dishes you’re most interested in, especially belt-bursting desserts. Split a piece of pie or cake with your spouse, child, or another family member who may be watching his or her waistline.

Keeping healthy during this holiday season is simply making sure you follow healthy habits just like anytime of the year. However, don’t fret it if you end up gaining a few pounds during the holidays. After all, the holiday season is only one of the few times of the year where you can truly enjoy yourself!

Last minute X-Mas Shopping

If you are like most people you do the majority of your Christmas shopping at the last minute. Visit any mall or shopping center in the final days before Christmas and you are likely to find parking lots that are filled to capacity and stores that are literally filled with shoppers who are still searching for the perfect Christmas gift for their friends or family members. As it gets closer and closer to Christmas the crowds tend to get more and more restless and the search for the perfect gift becomes a search for an acceptable gift. Although Christmas falls at the end of the year and people have a whole year to prepare for this joyous occasion, most people leave their shopping until the last minute every year despite New Year’s resolutions to get the Christmas shopping done early. This article will discuss a few different types of last minute Christmas shoppers. There are those who do their Christmas shopping at the last minute out of necessity, those who do it because they have procrastinated and those who do it because they find it to be exciting. I'm one that procrastinates.

People become last minute Christmas shoppers for a number of reasons. Perhaps the most innocent last minute shoppers are those who shop at the last minute out of necessity. Consider college students who typically end the semester around mid to late December. Many of these students are living on campus without access to a car. This can make Christmas shopping quite difficult but when you combine this living situation with the fact that they have finals to take at the end of semester, Christmas shopping becomes downright impossible. Finals often account for as much as 50% of a college student’s grade and it is understandable that they would have to spend the early part of December studying, the middle of the month taking their finals and then wind up last minute Christmas shopping almost immediately after their last final.

Other last minute Christmas shoppers include those who are just born procrastinators(me). They may go to stores every weekend in October or November. This could be an excellent opportunity for them to get their Christmas shopping done early but instead they wind up window shopping or purchasing items for themselves. While they are aware the Christmas season is approaching, they don’t feel compelled to start shopping until the absolute last minute. When this happens they find themselves in the unfortunate position of fighting the crowds in a last minute Christmas shopping frenzy.

Finally, there are others who are last minute Christmas shoppers simply because this is when they prefer to do their Christmas shopping. Some of these shoppers see shopping at the last minute as a challenge. They know they are short on time but are confident they will be able to find great gifts for everyone on their Christmas list this year. Other shoppers who intentionally wait until the last minute to do their Christmas shopping may do so because they enjoy the excitement of the crowds. Although last minute Christmas shopping can be stressful it is often exciting. Those who enjoy this excitement love shopping at the last minute because it gives them a sense of energy they wouldn’t feel if they were shopping for Christmas presents in October. I personally hate the crowds and wish I would get it done earlier.

The Time For Giving (Should Be Everyday)

Recently a friend of mine came to our home to visit.  I could tell this wasn't an ordinary visit, something was wrong.  We visited for a while and talked about where we used to work, and how everyone was doing and how things have been for us as well. I could tell there was something on his mind.  I was trying to decipher in my mind what could be wrong.  We hadn't talked about our current place of employment yet or how our holidays were going to be so I thought I would ask.

Once I asked where he was working now he said "nowhere right now I'm in between jobs and looking for one at the moment."  I kinda knew then what was wrong.  Now this friend of mine happens to be as old as my dad, has worked his whole life, and taken care of his family without fail.  He now is in need of a job and cannot find one.  It is real hard to get people to give you a chance once you hit a certain age.  It isn't quite right, he is still a very able bodied person and willing to work as hard as anyone else. I did not ask why he lost his job and I didn't care.  I know he is the type of person who does not get fired, he shows up for work when he is supposed to and does a good job, so why he is in between jobs doesn't matter.  I asked him if he is doing alright and he said he was not.  I had just purchased a half of beef so I asked him if he needed some meat in the freezer.  It was hard for me to figure out how to ask without offending him and I know how hard it was for him to say yes but he did, so I gave him some and offered my help with anything that I could.  I am not able to help financially but who is right now, right?

I was able to help him find a job through my place of employment, and he is now on his way back on his feet again.  I know without a doubt he would have done the same for me.

I am not telling this story so someone will give me a pat on the back.  I am not looking for praise in any manner.  My point is that everyday should be a time for giving, not just the holiday season.  Too many people turn their back when a friend is in need.  I am not a super religious person but I do believe in God.  This friend of mine said it best when he said "The Lord might not seem to be there ALL the time but he IS always ON time".  I have noticed that this is true.  Things always seem to get just a little worse right before they get a lot better, but they always get a lot better.  I also noticed that the more you unselfishly help people in need, the better off you will be. Good things happen to good people and the same goes for the opposite.

If you happen to be the person in need and you are reading this, please know that there are still good people in the world who are able to help and still care enough to do so. Please be humble enough to accept the help when it is offered, it is hard for both sides.  The person offering you help is usually afraid of offending you but they are just trying to be helpful.  Good fortune might not always be monetary but as long as you are willing to try and willing to help yourself, you will get what you need or deserve. These times are tough and people have made it through tougher.  In time good fortune will come to you, keep the faith and know that it may not get better right away but it will always get better for sure.

The point of this story is - if you are able to help someone in need, help someone in need.

It's a good feeling to help a friend, or anyone for that matter.  It doesn't have to be a holiday or a special occasion to give from your heart.

It's just the right thing to do.

Go buy a toy and donate it for a kid that you don't know this Christmas, or a hat and some gloves, or a coat.

Help someone you know who is in need if you are able at any time of the year and see what happens.

You won't regret it.

Great Crock Pot Venison Raost Recipe

Here Is One Of My Favorite Recipes

First You Will Need To Acquire A Venison Roast.

A crock is best for this but you can put it in a roaster pan with a lid or an oven bag with the same results.

Wild game is usually hard to find unless you can find a specialty meat market or butcher shop.  We have an awesome butcher shop that we go to in Seward, Illinois, Sorry I can't mention their name without permission but they are most likely the only butcher shop in Seward, Illinois.  These kind of butcher shops sell wild rabbit, bison, buffalo, ostrich, tiger, lion, alligator, lama, pheasant, and many other exotic meats to try.

I have seen people post ads on craigslist offering services, land to hunt on, item for trade, and other things all for some venison.

It is illegal to sell wild game without special licensing.

Here is the ingredient needed for this roast:

  • 1  2-5 lb Venison Roast
  • 1  2-5 lb Beef Roast
  • 1 lb Fresh White Button Cap Mushrooms (washed)
  • 2  Medium Onions
  • 4-8 Carrots (Depending on your Liking)
  • 4-8 Potatoes (Depending on your Liking)
  • 2-6 Stalks of Celery (Depending on your liking)
  • 2-4 cups of water (depending on how much is needed to fully cover up the meat)
  • 2 Packages of Onion Soup Mix
  • 1 Tbs Dried Oregano
  • Salt and Pepper to Taste
Instructions:

  1. Thaw out your Roasts overnight if frozen.  Fresh is always better but harder to come by.
  2. Put the roasts in the crock pot (or roaster pan or oven bag)
  3. Add the mushrooms, cut up or whole.
  4. Add the Vegetables, cut up to your liking.
  5. Add the water until it is about a half an inch above the meat and vegetables.
  6. Add the onion soup mix by sprinkling it all over the top.
  7. Add the oregano by sprinkling it all over the top.
  8. Cover and set on high if using a crock pot and leave it for at least four hours (six to eight if it is on low), keep an eye on the water level.  If you set it up before you leave for work, add a little extra water so it doesn't run out during the day and leave it on low.
  9. If using a roaster pan with a lid you should  roast it at 350° for 3 to five hours, checking the water level periodically.
  10. If using an oven bag you should roast it at 350° for 3 to 5 hours.
  11. Check the roast for tenderness. If the roast is still tough put it back in for an hour.

THIS IS MY FAVORITE ROAST RECIPE

HERE IS HOW TO MAKE GOOD GRAVY TO GO WITH IT.

Take out the meat and vegetables and put them on your serving platter and let them rest while you are making the gravy.

Put two table spoons cornstarch and two tablespoons flour in  a small bowl and add water to it while stirring it with a fork until it is very soupy.(You don't want it thick or you will have lumpy gravy).

Make sure your juice from the roast is boiling hot or it won't thicken.  While stirring with a whisk add the water-flour-cornstarch mixture until the gravy starts to thicken a little.  Bring to a boil again and turn down the burner to let it simmer for 10 minutes while stirring (this is important to prevent lumps and help it thicken the rest of the way).

If it doesn't thicken to your liking, you can add more of the
water-flour-cornstarch mixture until it does.

I hope you enjoy this as much as we do at our house!!

RABBIT HUNTING - A FAVORITE OF MINE

Surely any hunter has tried or at least thought of trying rabbit hunting at least one in his lifetime. Given that it’s so popular even today, it doesn't seem awkward at all that everybody is on a rabbit hunting fever whenever the season is kicking off. However, if you haven’t already experienced it and still think whether or not to go on that hunting field, then maybe a brief review on this particular type of hunting will make you think about it no more. Read on for essential facts about rabbit hunting, some of which even experienced hunter may not know.

Firstly, rabbit and hare hunting is a worldwide spread phenomenon, managing to attract hunters of all ages and social background. The biggest problem this hunting variety faces towards common belief is that few people consider it a serious and tough type of hunting, such as boar for instance. This is because very few people, compared to the masses, know what rabbit hunting is all about and how difficult it can get, even with the help of man’s best friend. Nevertheless, those that fully understand this give it the appreciation it deserves, and make their contribution to changing people’s inherited ideas felt. In addition, with sustained efforts rabbits and hares are slowly becoming evenly accepted among the mot popular game types in many areas. This comes as a logical consequence of these creatures’ amazing features, which makes hunting them an extremely complicated process.

From the start you should know that rabbits are no example of evolutionary stagnation; they’ve developed sensationally keen senses which allow them to defend against predators. Their preferred tactic is avoiding a direct confrontation, and their amazing sight and hearing abilities make detecting a threat from quite a distance. Also, they have a wonderfully adapted sense of smell, which is useful not only in its survival as predator radar, but in finding food also. In fact, all these great sensorial aptitudes, coupled with the ability to camouflage perfectly into the bush, are like a protective aura for the little creature, a shield meant to keep danger always one step behind. Speaking of steps, the rabbits “super-power” is its famous ability to sprint vivaciously and at high speeds, as well as its legendary and somewhat unexpected endurance.

The spot-and-run strategy has served the little varmint well throughout the ages, but facing a pack of hunting beagles even this is often not enough to save its life. Beagles are specially trained hounds that rely exclusively on their smell to chase and kill rabbits, and bringing a pack along with you on your hunting sessions will surely make a difference. However, no pack of beagles, no matter how well trained and experienced, will do the whole hunt because you, s hunter, play an essential role in the final success. It is up to you to guide them if they loose track of the rabbit, as well as ordering them which rabbit to chase in case several of them pop from bushes as they sense danger.

As you can see, rabbit hunting is more than a Sunday afternoon kind of sport, forcing you to make decision strategically, make every opportunity count and to give your best every time. Hunting experts guarantee that no hunt will be similar to the next, which means that routine is not in rabbit hunting dictionary under the letter “R”. Or at all.

Choosing a Jacuzzi or Hot Tub

Jacuzzi is a brand name of a water pump system used in bathtubs. When people refer to a Jacuzzi, it also means a hot tub or a spa. The terms can be used interchangeably.

When shopping for a Jacuzzi or a hot tub, there are several things to keep in mind. First, where are you going to put it? A Jacuzzi needs a room with plenty of circulation. The warm water needs ventilation to circulate in the room or to the outdoors to keep drywall from mildew or rot.

A Jacuzzi also needs plenty of weight support to hold all of the water. Putting a Jacuzzi on the second floor is not a good idea, unless it is a small bathtub Jacuzzi. A basement hot tub is not a good idea either since the cement block walls can hinder ventilation and cause added moisture problems.

A cement slab or patio is an ideal place for a Jacuzzi hot tub. To use year-round, a gazebo or small room can be built around it. Windows can be made to open or remove to allow for ventilation, or to cool off on hot summer nights.

Second, what size do you need? Do you plan on hosting lots of parties and entertaining? You may want to consider a 6-8 person Jacuzzi. If it is for you and a significant other, a two seater may be perfect.

Jacuzzi’s come in a variety of sizes, and they also come in a wide selection of shapes. Jacuzzi’s can be round, square, oval, kidney shaped or made into a custom design. Jacuzzi’s can be made into a shape to fit a unique room size or to curve around a wall or architecture style.

A Jacuzzi can be made from many different materials. There are inflatable hot tubs, which can be filled with air or let out and moved. This offers flexibility if you live in a cold climate, you can bring it inside for winter months and enjoy.

High resin plastics and wood also make up the exterior of Jacuzzi’s and hot tubs. When buying wood products, make sure it is specially treated to resist water and damage caused by heat.

The interior of a Jacuzzi is almost always a type of plastic. What determines the price is how many jets are inside and how many settings they have. Settings can be limited with high and low, but more advanced with multiple choices for water speed and angle.

Jacuzzi’s require similar care to that of an outdoor pool. Water levels must be checked regularly and tested for bacteria. To keep bacteria and other agents away, a variety of chemicals are available to treat the water. The representative where you buy your Jacuzzi from will have instructions and can offer guidance until you are used to the process.

Besides the initial expense of purchasing the Jacuzzi, there are monthly expenses for maintaining your hot tub. Those expenses would be for electricity to keep the water warm, chemicals to keep the ph levels safe and water to keep it full!

Options to go with your hot tub are unlimited. Floating tiki bars, drink holders, pillows and toys for the kids are just a few fun things available. Special seat cushions can be made to help with special back problems or ailments.

Covers should be on the Jacuzzi when not in use. It keeps any excess dirt and dust out of the water and jets. It may keep wandering children out of the water too. If you have children, special infrared and laser security alarms can be made to go off if the light has been broken. Keep safety a top priority if you have a Jacuzzi in your home.

CLEAN YOUR GUN!!

So you are laying in bed and all of a sudden you hear the window in the living room downstairs break....you look out and see a masked and armed robber ransacking your possessions. You get your gun out, muster up all your courage, tell your wife to stay put, try to gather all the rage you are feeling into a calm, strong, determined approach to the situation at hand.  You then open the door creep over to the stairwell and manage to get down the stairs and just around the corner from the thug.  You pick just the right time to scare the holy crap out of him and then it happens....you step out and give your well thought out "Gotchya Line", he lifts his gun and.....

If your gun fails to fire in that situation, you probably won’t live to regret it anyway. Neither will your family. (Of course, you can hide in your room and wait for your local overworked and understaffed police force to come to your rescue. But that’s another subject.) Clean Your Gun!

Cleaning Tips

Use a bronze wire brush for normal bore cleaning. When removing copper, heavy lead fouling, or plastic shotgun wad fouling use a nylon brush with Shooters Choice or similar bore cleaner. (Shooters Choice is a powerful bore cleaner, will eat bronze brushes.)

Some recommend to run the bronze brush through the bore once for every round fired. (I prefer Hoppes #9 solvent for light cleaning.)

If you are serious about the care of your gun invest in a coated steel or brass cleaning rod. Aluminum rods are soft. They collect grit and particles that can scratch the bore.

Wipe the rod off after every pass through the bore.

Use a brass jag to push patches through the bore. Dragging a dirty patch in a slotted tip back through the bore is not what I call cleaning.

Use a bore guide or brass “bumper” to protect the chamber or muzzle crown from damage.

Clean the action with a blast of pressurized solvent such as Gun Scrubber by Birchwood Casey. It cleans without leaving a residue.

Oil Lightly! Oil attracts dirt! If you can see oil, you probably oiled too much!

If you’re concerned that you’ve oiled too much, try storing your gun with the barrel down. This will prevent oil or solvent from seeping into the wooden stock.

Strip clean about every 800 rounds or so. If you don’t know how and don’t have an owners manual, take the gun to a Gunsmith. It doesn’t cost that much. (It’s cheaper than having him replace that spring that went flying into the recesses of your oh so clean garage or basement work room.)

There’s much more to gun care, but this info should put you ahead of the game. If you want to learn more, check out a hobby gunsmith course or talk with an expert In firearms.  You can visit reaperstactical.com and email them for further info. The guy there is Mike, he is good.

Choosing a Storage Shed

If you own a house, at some point the need for extra storage space soon becomes evident. Arguably the most common solution is to purchase a storage shed. There are hundreds of styles and options available, but taking the time review these 5 key steps will enable you to make a smarter decision.

1. What is the primary function of the shed? In most cases, storage space is the key requirement, so figure out how much space is needed. A small 4′ x 8′ lean-to style provides sufficient space for small tools, but larger items do require more space. I strongly recommend choosing the largest size that you can afford, which still blends in with your landscape. Remember that most municipalities require building permits for any building over 100 sq. ft.

2. Is the shed going to play a prominent role in your day to day activities? If so, make sure that you choose a style and options that give you good access and provide adequate lighting. Windows and skylights provide plenty of natural light, but it is common to run electricity to the shed. For easy access, make sure that the doors are at least 34″ wide, as most lawn mowers will easily pass through.

3. How important is the look of the shed to my property. Remember that anything you erect will either add or impair on your property value. Metal and vinyl are the least expensive options, but these tend to look ordinary. Wood and pre-finished sidings normally add character and value, but are usually more expensive.

4. Consider the grade and accessibility of the location. A level site is the starting point for all shed construction The greater the grade, the more work needs to be done. Typically a grade of 6″ or less over the dimension of the shed can be compensated for by using patio stones, especially for smaller units. In areas faced with frost upheaval or poor drainage, it is recommend that at least 6″ of topsoil be removed and filled with screening stone (1/2″ or smaller gravel is also acceptable).

5. Be considerate to your neighbors! Don’t put up something that belongs in a junkyard beside your neighbor’s manicured backyard. Most municipalities require that storage sheds be 2 ft from the fence or property line, so be sure to check ahead of time to avoid any aggravation. Talk to your neighbors about your intentions – 99% of the time they will appreciate your concern and be very supportive of your project.

The internet is an excellent source for information on the hundreds of suppliers and styles available. If ordering online be sure to read the warranty and returns information carefully as often goods of this nature cannot be returned. Just because a company has a fancy website it does not mean it stands behind its product – try searching for articles or information on the particular company. Most companies offer either pre-cut or pre-fabricated kits delivered to your residence. If choosing a fully installed product, deal with a local company with a fixed location (avoid the ones that set-up at seasonal locations), and again be prudent with your research. I strongly recommend avoiding companies that require more than a 30% deposit – you’ll end up waiting longer than you should. A storage shed is an important purchase – a little research will go a long way in helping making the right decision.

Gadgets for your garage

If you spend a lot of your time at home in your garage or if
you want a clean and organized garage you need a few
gadgets. Garage gadgets come in many forms and for different
purposes.

For example a stop light for parking may come in handy for
someone who has a problem with depth perception or for
someone who comes home late from work and is very tired. If you
have such problems, you need this tool. It is easy to install
and use and it helps you to park the car in the same spot
every time when the motion sensors are triggered.

If you need space on the walls next to the door, you can
mount a garage door opener on the ceiling above the door
to eliminate chains.

Bike storage is ideal in a garage for “hanging” your bike on a
wall so you have easy access to it with the advantage of having
more clear space in the garage.

If you have a lot more items in your garage than you really have
Room for or the walls are full of shelves and cabinets, you
definitely need additional storage devices like an overhead
storage system mounted directly on the ceiling.

Using Product Recommendations To Increase Your Blogging Profits

In affiliate marketing, there are many ways in which you can increase your earnings and maintain the account that you have worked so hard for already. Most of the techniques and tactics can be learned easily. No need to go anywhere and any further. They are available online, 24 hours a day and 7 days a week.
One of the more important ways of increasing affiliate marketing bottom line and sale is through the use of product recommendations. Many marketers know that this is one of the most effective ways in promoting a certain product.
If the customers or visitors trust you enough, then they will definitely trust your recommendations. Be very careful in using this approach, though. If you start promoting everything by recommendation, your credibility will actually wear thin. This is seen especially when recommendations are seemingly exaggerated and without much merit.
Do not be afraid to mention things that you do not like about a given product or service. Rather than lose any points for you, this will make your recommendation more realistic and will tend to increase your credibility.
Furthermore, if your visitors are really interested in what you are offering, they will be more than delighted to learn what is good about the product, what is not so good, and how the product will benefit them.
When you are recommending a certain product, there are some things to remember on how to make it work effectively and for your advantage.
Sound like the true and leading expert in your field.
Remember this simple equation: Price resistance diminishes in direct proportion to trust. If your visitors feel and believe that you are an expert in your niche, they are more inclined to making that purchase. On the other hand, if you are not exuding any confidence and self-assurance in endorsing your products, they will probably feel that same way and will go in search of another product or service which is more believable.
How do you establish this aura of expertise? By offering unique and new solutions they would not get anywhere else. Show proof that what you are promoting works as promised. Display prominent testimonials and endorsements from respected and known personalities, in related fields of course.
Avoid hype at all costs. It is better to sound low key and confident, than to scream and seek attention. Besides, you would not want to sound unprofessional and have that thinking stick to your potential customers and clients, now would you? Best to appear cool and self-assured at the same time.
And remember; prospects are not stupid. They are actually turning to experts and may already know the things that you know. If you back up your claims with hard facts and data, they would gladly put down hundreds, or even thousands worth of money to your promotions. But if you don’t, they are smart enough to try and look at your competitors and what they are offering.
While recommending a product, it is also important that you give out promotional freebies. People are already familiar with the concept of offering freebies to promoting your won products. But very few people do this to promote affiliate products. Try to offer freebies that can promote or even have some information about your products or services.
Before you add recommendations to you product, it is given that you should try and test the product and support. Do not run the risk of promoting junk products and services. Just think how long it took you to build credibility and trust among your visitors. All that will take to destroy it is one big mistake on your part.
If possible, have recommendations of products that you have 100% confidence in. Test the product support before you begin to ensure that the people you are referring it to would not be left high and dry when a problem suddenly arouse.
Have a look at your affiliate market and look at the strategies you are using. You may not be focusing on the recommendations that your products need to have. You plan of action is sometimes not the only thing that is making your program works.
Try product recommendation and be among those few who have proven its worth.

Top 3 Ways To Boost Your Affiliate Commissions Overnight

The ideal world of affiliate marketing does not require having your own website, dealing with customers, refunds, product development and maintenance. This is one of the easiest ways of launching into an online business and earning more profits.

Assuming you are already into an affiliate program, what would be the next thing you would want to do? Double, or even triple, your commissions, right? How do you do that?

Here are some powerful tips on how to boost your affiliate program commissions overnight.

1. Know the best program and products to promote. Obviously, you would want to promote a program that will enable you to achieve the greatest profits in the shortest possible time.

There are several factors to consider in selecting such a program. Choose the ones that have a generous commission structure. Have products that fit in with your target audience. And that has a solid track record of paying their affiliate easily and on time. If you cannot seem to increase your investments, dump that program and keep looking for better ones.

There are thousands of affiliate programs online which gives you the reason to be picky. You may want to select the best to avoid losing your advertising dollars.

Write free reports or short ebooks to distribute from your site. There is a great possibility that you are competing with other affiliates that are promoting the same program. If you start writing short report related to the product you are promoting, you will be able to distinguish yourself from the other affiliates.

In the reports, provide some valuable information for free. If possible, add some recommendations about the products. With ebooks, you get credibility. Customers will see that in you and they will be enticed to try out what you are offering.

2. Collect and save the email addresses of those who download your free ebooks. It is a known fact that people do not make a purchase on the first solicitation. You may want to send out your message more than six times to make a sale.

This is the simple reason why you should collect the contact information of those who downloaded your reports and ebooks. You can make follow-ups on these contacts to remind them to make a purchase from you.

Get the contact information of a prospect before sending them to the vendor’s website. Keep in mind that you are providing free advertisement for the product owners. You get paid only when you make a sale. If you send prospects directly to the vendors, chances are they would be lost to you forever.

But when you get their names, you can always send other marketing messages to them to be able to earn an ongoing commission instead of a one-time sale only.

Publish an online newsletter or Ezine. It is always best to recommend a product to someone you know than to sell to a stranger. This is the purpose behind publishing your own newsletter. This also allows you to develop a relationship based on trust with your subscribers.

This strategy is a delicate balance between providing useful information with a sales pitch. If you continue to write informative editorials you will be able to build a sense of reciprocity in your readers that may lead them to support you by buying your products.

3. Ask for higher than normal commission from merchants. If you are already successful with a particular promotion, you should try and approach the merchant and negotiate a percentage commission for your sales.

If the merchant is smart, he or she will likely grant your request rather than lose a valuable asset in you. Keep in mind that you are a zero-risk investment to your merchant; so do not be shy about requesting for addition in your commissions. Just try to be reasonable about it.

Write strong pay Per Click ads. PPC search engine is the most effective means of advertising online. As an affiliate, you can make a small income just by managing PPC campaigns such as Google AdWords and Overture. Then you should try and monitor them to see which ads are more effective and which ones to dispose of.

Try out these strategies and see the difference it can make to your commission checks in the shortest of time.

Blogging Defined

With the recent rise in advanced social networking sites and the subsequent attention they have received from media outlets, people commonly perceive weblogs--which are the staple of social networking--as a new invention; however, this isn't entirely true. Adding information to web-logs or "blogs”--blogging defined today--has been around for over ten years--and has gradually gained strength on the Internet as means of communication.

While people blogging in the early 1990s generally limited their blogs to personal information, such as chronicles and diaries, bloggers defined today includes blogging on a wide variety of different topics--from politics to cheese-tasting; however, blogging defined today is very much the same: a simple means to better facilitate communication.

Blogging defined is one of the most effective means of Internet-based communication because it is relatively easy and requires little time investment. Using a blogging interface like Wordpress or Google's Blogger, a blog owner can add a new entries to his blog while he sits in a meeting at work or watches events unfold on TV. Rather than fooling around with messy code, he can simply enter his message textually in his blog; and then update it in a matter of seconds.

Another crucial aspect of blogging that makes it such an effective medium for communication is that it allows for rapid-response comments. A political debate could literally unfold over the course of the afternoon in the form of comments on a blog.

Conversely, blogging defined by the media is often “controversial,” but it doesn't have to be that way.  Many blogs are used to simply say "hello" to friends who are blog owners. This is quite common with social networking sites, such as Myspace and Livejournal--both of which use a form of blog to facilitate communication.

Whether blogging defined is a form spurring debate between political opponents or blogging defined is a means of increasing bonds between friends, they have the ability to rapidly increase the speed of communication by acting as a sort of intermediary between a full-featured website and a forum.

The Importance of Updating Your Blog Often

What is the importance of updating your blog often? Some might see no value in it; and might instead create multiple blogs, each of which they attend to for only minutes each week. Other blog owners see the importance of updating your blog often—and will spend 3-4 hours each day updating their blogs with news and ideas.

From both a technical marketing viewpoint and a social marketing viewpoint, updating your blog often is one of the best ways to maintain a constant stream of traffic.

From a technical viewpoint, new and unique content makes your blog look better to search engine spiders; this, in turn, gets your blog ranked higher. Additionally, from a technical viewpoint, updating your blog more frequently will allow you to get pings accepted more frequently, which means your blog will spend more time on the front page of blog directories.

The importance of updating your blog often also comes into play if you wish to integrate extensive social marketing into your overall blog marketing plan. Most people don't realize this, but marketing is often all about the human connections.

You don't need to be a technical wizard if you forget about profits for a few minutes and instead concentrate on making human connections with other blog owners who share similar interests. One of the best ways to achieve this is by keeping an updated blog, which will give other bloggers the incentive to drop by each day, post new comments on your blog, and refer their own blog readers to your blog. The importance of updating your blog often is crucial.

And there you have it: the importance of updating your blog often is paramount to success. Whether your goal is to use your blog for social marketing or technical marketing, you will have to update it often with unique and interesting content if you want to build an atmosphere that encourages return visits.

Survival Training -

The Good in Survival Training

You may be an adventurer who frequents the outdoors, goes hiking up the world’s tallest mountains, swims underneath the vast oceans, and visits the icy areas of the globe. Maybe you think about the soldier who lives in the jungle out of necessity, sent out on a reconnaissance mission taking weeks and months of his life. Have you ever wondered how people like these survive the various dangers the world has to offer?

Soldiers, particularly those highest trained, are schooled on how to survive when out in the field, regardless of the climate or environment they are in. Adventurers know some basic survival skills such as lighting a fire, building shelters, etc. One thing is common with both – they underwent some form of survival training before embarking on their journey.

Benefits of survival training

You never know when the survival skills will come in handy or when they will be needed, so one benefit of survival training is that it prepares you for what may be a possibility. You may need a fire one night to use as a light or to keep warm, and you don’t have matches, but you can make one thanks to survival training.

Another benefit is that it teaches you how to make the most of the environment you are in, regardless of what it is. For example, you are in the jungle. Survival training will teach you how to hunt for food and water, how to cook the food, as well as build a shelter made of trees – which would be difficult to do if not properly trained.

Additionally, survival training will teach you how to adapt to terrain. If trapped on an island, you will know what to do with the resources the island has to offer. It is different when you are trapped near the top of a mountain, since you have to know how to properly climb down from it.

How to be trained

There are quite a number of survival training schools available that are open free of charge to anyone, not to mention certain military camps where this training is a requirement. If you are simply an adventurer, you would have to enroll in this form of school or hire an expert to teach you. If you are in the military or aspiring to be, it is not much of a problem since this is required especially if you’re to be sent out to the field.

Survival training would be very helpful in certain situations. If you frequently adventure, the training would be a great asset and is highly recommended.

This is the best training guide that I have found for survival

Safe Survival Food Tips - what to eat and not to eat.

How to be a One Day Davy Crockett: Tips on Finding Safe Food in the Wilderness

In the city, food is always within reach wherever we find ourselves in need of it. That’s why it’s no wonder city folks become clueless when tragedy strikes and they are lost in the wilderness. For them, there’s no difference between mistletoe and poisonous berries. Common sense flees and panic automatically sets in once they realize they’re lost in the denseness of looming trees and darkness. If you don’t want the wilderness to get the best of you, here are some tips to eat your way to safety:

WATER IS THE SOURCE OF LIFE
You can survive without food longer than you can survive without water. For that reason, it’s imperative that you look for a source of water before satiating your hunger.

NEVER MAKE ANY ASSUMPTIONS
Poison is your worst enemy in the wilderness. It’s crucial that you don’t risk your health and safety on any wild conjectures. Rely on facts alone. Think one hundred times before taking a bite of any plant or fruit unless you want to end up with a Snowhite-inspired death.

WARNING SIGNS OF INEDIBLE PLANTS
Without proper expertise and knowledge, it would be extremely difficult for individuals to correctly identify which and which aren’t safe to eat. There are, however, several warning signs that could prevent you from consuming any potentially dangerous food.

Avoid eating food that has the following characteristics:
Bitter taste
Signs of decay or discoloration
Three-leaved growth pattern

SEAWEEDS FOR LIFE
Although they appear slimy, seaweeds are one of the wilderness plants you can be almost 100% sure are safe to eat. Make sure, however, that you only eat seaweeds which you have personally weeded out from underwater. Don’t eat seaweeds that have washed ashore because these may be contaminated.

BAITING FOR FOOD

Fishing is another safe method for satisfying your hunger. Search the woods for any pole with a sharp tip so you can spear fishes effectively. Remember to clean the fish thoroughly first before frying it.

HUNTING FOR FOOD

It’s inadvisable for people who get lost in the woods to rely on hunting for food simply because it’s an activity that requires expertise. You will only waste valuable time and energy if you insist on playing hunter.

TO CATCH A FLY
Insects such as bugs, for instance, are good sources of protein and fats. Forget what you see and just savor the feeling of finally having something to eat.

Lastly, whatever else you do, don’t ever let panic force you to make costly mistakes. Remain calm and stay hopeful that you’ll be rescued.

RV Camping: Tips And Safety, For An Unforgettable Camping Trip

There are campers who like RV camping better to experience nature with the amenities of home.

According to a recent survey, 92% of individuals owning an RV affirmed that RV’s are the only and best means to travel and go camping with the family, especially when with children.

Do rent a Recreational Vehicle for your short camping trip; it is the best means to survey your actual requirements before purchasing.

Here are safety guidelines for that memorable RV camping trip:

1.    Take up a professional course in driving focused on the specialized requirements of efficiently and safety of operating your RV.

2.    Practice your skills on roads with minimal traffic.

3.    In the U.S., when you are already 62 years or over, you need to acquire a “Golden Age passport”; it will be your ticket for free wildlife, national monuments,  parks, national recreation facilities and refuges access.

4.    In tourist areas and peak seasons, make reservations at least 3 weeks ahead.

5.    Checklist:

•    First aid kit

•    Packed meals

•    Canned foods

•    Ample supply of Purified drinking water

•    Toiletries (soap, shampoo, tissue)

•    Cooking essentials

•    Flashlights

•    Mosquito and bug repellant lotion or spray

•    Enough clothing

•    Fire extinguisher

•    Map, compass

•    Books, game boards, cards, puzzles

6.    Park your RV under a shade.

7.    Build your campfire away from the vehicle.

To build your campfire, begin in an area where nothing else will potentially catch fire that you do not want to burn.  Build a fire ring with rocks to contain your fire so the grass will not catch and spread.

Start with easy burning tinder like dry needles of pine, wood shavings, paper or tiny twigs.

Put your broken dry twigs carefully placed atop the tinder, which is where your will start.

Then place some sticks in a teepee style over the small twigs and tinder, making sure there is less space in between the sticks, tinder and teepee.

Once your fire rises up, add more twigs, then logs.

8.    Safety on campfires.  Make sure you attend to your campfire always and extinguish it before you go inside your RV to sleep by splashing water on it.

9.    Before leaving the campsite, walk around completely your RV to examine that all electric wires, sewer and water are unhooked and check if the Television antenna is put down.

Likewise, clean around the campsite making sure you leave it as it was before you came.  Bring your trash with you.

Enjoy the campfire, Respect & enjoy nature and enjoy the trip; DO NOT LITTER!  This really is an excellent family treat!

steep grage
In an attempt to make mountain driving a little safer for truckers and RV'ers, R&R Publishing Inc. has been collecting and publishing information about mountain passes and steep grades since 1993. The Mountain Directory E-books give the locations and descriptions of over 700 mountain passes and steep grades in 22 states. The Mountain Directory ebooks tell you where the steep grades are, how long they are, how steep (%) they are, whether the road is two lane, three lane, or four lane, if there are escape ramps, switchbacks, sharp curves, speed limits, etc. With this information, one can know ahead of time what a pass is like and make an informed decision about whether to go over or around. If you decide to go over, perhaps the cool morning hours would ease the strain on the engine and transmission during the climb. Unhooking the towed vehicle would make the climb and the descent easier.

Knowing what lies ahead is half the battle.

Pests in your Garden

GARDEN PESTS.

If we could garden without any interference from the pests which attack plants, then indeed gardening would be easy and everyone would do it. But all the time we must watch out for these little foes - little in size, but tremendous in the havoc they make.

As human illness may often be prevented by healthful conditions, so pests may be kept away by strict garden cleanliness. Heaps of waste are brothels for the breeding of insects. I do not think a compost pile will do the harm, but UN-kept, uncared-for spots seem to invite trouble.

There are certain ways of keeping pests down. The constant stirring up of the soil by earthworms is an aid in keeping the soil open to air and water. Many of our common birds feed upon insects. The sparrows, robins, chickadees, meadow larks and orioles are all examples of birds who help in this way. Some insects feed on other and harmful insects. Some kinds of ladybugs do this good deed. The ichneumon-fly helps too. And toads are wonders in the number of insects they can consume at one meal. The toad deserves very kind treatment from all of us, they are very special critters.

Each gardener should try to make her or his garden into a place attractive to birds and toads. A good birdhouse, grain sprinkled about in early spring, a water-place, are invitations for birds to stay a while in your garden. If you wish toads, fix things up for them too. During a hot summer day a toad likes to rest in the shade. By night he is ready to go forth to eat but not to kill, since toads prefer live food. How can one "fix up" for toads? Well, one thing to do is to prepare a retreat, quiet, dark and damp. A few stones of some size underneath the shade of a shrub with perhaps a carpeting of damp leaves, would appear very fine to a toad.

There are two general classes of insects known by the way they do their work. One kind gnaws at the plant really taking pieces of it into its system. This kind of insect has a mouth fitted to do this work. Grasshoppers and caterpillars are of this sort. The other kind sucks the juices from a plant. This, in some ways, is the worst sort. Plant lice belong here, aphids, as do mosquitoes, which prey on us. All the scale insects fasten themselves on plants, and suck out the life of the plants.

Now can we fight these chaps? The gnawing fellows may be caught with poison sprayed upon plants, which they take into their bodies with the plant. The Bordeaux mixture which is a poison sprayed upon plants for this purpose.

In the other case the only thing is to attack the insect direct. So certain insecticides, as they are called, are sprayed on the plant to fall upon the insect. They do a deadly work of attacking, in one way or another, the body of the insect.

Sometimes we are troubled with underground insects at work. You have seen a garden covered with ant hills. Here is a remedy, but one of which you must be careful.

This question is constantly being asked, 'How can I tell what insect is doing the destructive work?' Well, you can tell partly by the work done, and partly by seeing the insect itself. This latter thing is not always so easy to accomplish. I had cutworms one season and never saw one. I saw only the work done. If stalks of tender plants are cut clean off be pretty sure the cutworm is abroad. What does he look like? Well, that is a hard question because his family is a large one. Should you see sometime a grayish striped caterpillar, you may know it is a cutworm. But because of its habit of resting in the ground during the day and working by night, it is difficult to catch sight of one. The cutworm is around early in the season ready to cut the flower stalks of the hyacinths. When the peas come on a bit later, he is ready for them. A very good way to block him off is to put paper collars, or tin ones, about the plants. These collars should be about an inch away from the plant.

Of course, plant lice are more common. Those we see are often green in colour. But they may be red, yellow or brown. Lice are easy enough to find since they are always clinging to their host. As sucking insects they have to cling close to a plant for food, and one is pretty sure to find them. But the biting insects do their work, and then go hide. That makes them much more difficult to deal with.

Rose slugs do great damage to the rose bushes. They eat out the body of the leaves, so that just the veining is left. They are soft-bodied, green above and yellow below.

A beetle, the striped beetle, attacks young melons and squash leaves. It eats the leaf by riddling out holes in it. This beetle, as its name implies, is striped. The back is black with yellow stripes running lengthwise.

Then there are the slugs, which are garden pests. The slug will devour almost any garden plant, whether it be a flower or a vegetable. They lay lots of eggs in old rubbish heaps. Do you see the good of cleaning up rubbish? The slugs do more harm in the garden than almost any other single insect pest. You can discover them in the following way. There is a trick for bringing them to the surface of the ground in the day time. You see they rest during the day below ground. So just water the soil in which the slugs are supposed to be. How are you to know where they are? They are quite likely to hide near the plants they are feeding on. So water the ground with some nice clean lime water. This will disturb them, and up they'll poke to see what the matter is.

Beside these most common of pests, pests which attack many kinds of plants, there are special pests for special plants. Discouraging, is it not? Beans have pests of their own; so have potatoes and cabbages. In fact, the vegetable garden has many inhabitants. In the flower garden lice are very bothersome, the cutworm and the slug have a good time there, too, and ants often get very numerous as the season advances. But for real discouraging insect troubles the vegetable garden takes the prize. If we were going into fruit to any extent, perhaps the vegetable garden would have to resign in favour of the fruit garden.

A common pest in the vegetable garden is the tomato worm. This is a large yellowish or greenish striped worm. Its work is to eat into the young fruit.

A great, light green caterpillar is found on celery. This caterpillar may be told by the black bands, one on each ring or segment of its body.

The squash bug may be told by its brown body, which is long and slender, and by the disagreeable odour from it when killed. The potato bug is another fellow to look out for. It is a beetle with yellow and black stripes down its crusty back. The little green cabbage worm is a perfect nuisance. It is a small caterpillar and smaller than the tomato worm. These are perhaps the most common of garden pests by name.

I sure hope this has enlightened you.
